In reply to your letter No.152 of the 22nd ultimo,

in which you recommend that the Viceroy's request at the end

of the despatch forwarded therewith, be complied with, I am

directed to inform you that His Excellency approves of the

course of action pointed out, and that a competent witness

has received instructions to proceed to Canton and present

himself at the Ying Tsz Hsien.
